TEAM JST GG at 'The Scott'
Once again WAYNE BRAYBROOK has finished best JST GAS GAS rider in this years infamous Scott Trial finishing a fantastic 5th place! It was a very good event for us with the Team riders finishing with some good results... We didnt win (congrats to Graham and Sherco) but we did have 7 riders achieving Scott Spoons with 6 riders in the Top 15. We also proved that the new 2009 GG Pro is reliable in this gruelling event. With fatigue the major factor at the Scott, having the lightest bike is a huge advantage. Wayne, Sam and Dan all rode 2009 model bikes which gave no problems so having a light, reliable bike we now look forward to next year..... Wayne rode well and was fully focused as normal. Wayne knows exactly how to ride the Scott and how to pace himself. Having repaired a puncture just before Grouse Moor he slowly increased his pace. When he fuelled off Grouse @ Petrol 3 he was still in full control. As i waited at P4 i witnessed the other Top riders beginning to suffer, it was here that Wayne picked up his pace considerably and from P4 to the finish he was on a mission. A massive crash just before P5 slowed him a little but he soon got back up to speed. I saw him again at the last Petrol Check and he was 'in the zone' big time! I then went to Rotten Wood and waited.....and waited. I began to get nervous because i knew he would pass Ben Hemo and get to Rotten Wood ahead of him. When Ben appeared i knew something had happened to WB. Eventually Wayne appeared and informed me that he had run out of fuel just after Cold Knuckles and had to push it for 10 mins or so until he managed to 'borrow' some fuel off a spectator. This was VERY frustrating because after looking at the results he could have possibly made podium....excuses i know but still frustrating.... With a std. GG tank holding a full 3 litres, we still use bigger tanks (3.5L) for this event which is normally plenty and with Wayne running dry, this proves how much he was pushing in the closing stages.... Still 5th place for a 38 year aint so bad ;-) Sam Haslam was 8th (13th in 07) which is his best position so far! Sam had no real dramas and had the 4th best observation score. Just needs to be a little faster! Dan Thorpe was 9th just falling one place from last year. Dan was again very good in the sections but again a little slow. Speed is not Dans strong point and i think a HUGE crash a few years ago still haunts him. Still Top 10 is a VERY good result. Dan rides at his own pace and relies on his superb 'stream riding skills' to achieve a good observation score. Ross Danby improved ALOT on last years result. Ross was 11th (18th in 07) and was running a good pace all day. Liam Walker also went better this year finishing 13th (21st in 07). Buxton Boy Craig Robinson should be very proud of his 15th place (22nd 07) and is now turning his efforts into some good solid results. New GG Rider Philip Alderson collected yet another Scott Spoon finishing 23rd. Special mention to Katy Sunter who again finished the event inside the allowed time limit finishing 54th. WELL DONE to all.....me happy ;-) Regards Shirty |
