DABILL wins Round 2 BTC!
BTC2---Kinlochleven: James Dabill, Team JST GAS GAS UK Rider has done it again! Yesterday 'Dibs' won the second round of the British Trials Championship organised by the Lochaber & District Club. It was a close fought battle with Trials Legend Dougie Lampkin who dominated the first lap. Dougie went 'clean' on the first lap of 12 sections with Dabill in second place on 11 marks lost. Dibs was riding a little 'tight' on the first lap and although he had only one disaster (fiving section 8) he had a futher six single dab rides around the first lap. I wouldnt say that he was nervous, just not riding as relaxed and confident as he certainly was on the second and third laps. After the first lap he settled down and was riding alot better. He had a bad '3' on section 3 where he struggled to keep his balance in the very windy conditions. (The weather was very blustery and this certainly bothered the lighter riders) After this he simply went on a roll again displaying big confidence and belief. The most impressive thing was he would not accept he was riding for second place after Dougs faultless first lap. Dibs kept his focus and just dug deep. He rode every section after Doug and was the last Championship rider to finish which proves that he can win riding infront of the opposition (like @ Scarborough) or after them. He chose his own line on the 'do or die' 8th section and cleaned with ease on lap 2&3. His technique on the GAS GAS is certainly superb to watch and in only the third month of riding his new bike he looks like he's been on it for years... After the second lap he was still 4 marks behind Doug but when Doug fived section 6 on the last lap, Dibs knew the win was his. His feet were welded to the pegs and he finished the lap with only one mark lost to beat Doug by 3 marks.....job done! James has massive respect for his friend Dougie Lampkin but he now knows that the Master can be beaten. Whereas Doug is unlikely to compete in all the BTC Rounds we expect these battles to continue at the WTC which starts in Ireland in two weeks time.....BE THERE! JST GAS GAS Riders Sam Haslam and Ross Danby were 6th and 8th respectively....Looking at the results Sam was consistant on the first two laps but tired on the last lap.. Craig Robinsom (JSTGG) was a fighting 10th. In the Expert A Class, Lee Sampson (TRC GAS GAS) was the best GG in 5th place with Liam Walker (JSTGG) and Jonny Walker (ACEGG) 8th and 9th respectively. In the Expert B Class, GG riders Blackman, Wiggins and Kettlewell were 5th,6th and 7th.. Thanks to Minder Jack Lee and Mechanic Factory Kev. Full results attached. Photo: Trial mag Cheers Shirty |
