DABILL wins BTC7 and ASH WOOD personal best at BEC3!
James Dabill, Team JST GAS GAS UK has just won Round 7 of the British Trials Championship yesterday at the Yeadon & Guisley ‘Brimham Rocks’ venue. Dibs now has a 12 point lead over his pal Micheal Brown with one round to go. However it is not over yet and although Dibs only needs a top 7 finish at the last round to win the Championship we know that anything can happen in motorsport. We all watched Doug crash out on the practice lap which was not nice to see. James has a massive amount of respect for Doug and we all hope he gets fit in time for the next WTC in Spain in a month’s time. This was probably the hardest win of James’ career because a mystery sickness bug landed on him on Saturday to spoil his preparation for the event. Most top riders get the ‘excuse’ book out from time to time but I can honestly say that he was not well yesterday. Unable to eat anything his energy levels disappeared after the first lap and he really started to struggle. His second lap was poor because he just had no energy. Browny took the lead and I then thought we would have to settle for second. After we forced some food into him before the last lap and plenty of encouragement from his dad and sis he dug deep and battled on. We soon learned that Browny had fived the first two sections behind us so I guess that boosted Dibs’ ‘belief’ he could still win. He rode each section without looking at them to save his energy and he focused on the job in hand. Yes, it was a Team effort yesterday but the guy holding the Renthals was ‘James Dabill’ and for me I was a very proud Team boss to see my No.1 rider give me 110%. Thanks to Jack, Factory Kev, Family Dibs. Pic…Trialmag JST teamsters Sam Haslam and Ross Danby finished 5th and 6th respectively. It was tough going yesterday and although I was glued to Dibs I did see both Sam and Ross have some awesome rides as did Craig Robinson in 8th. In the Experts, Lee Sampson (TRC GAS GAS) had his best BTC result of the year finishing 4th so well done mate! Ben Wibz was 10th on the STEVENS GG just beating Jonny Walker in 11th on his PRO125 who is still on the 125. (It was really hardwork for the 125s yesterday and Ben, JR and Jonny all struggled) Dan Thorpe wants to forget yesterday asap finishing 12th. Dan really is having a run of bad luck at the moment (especially being robbed of the win @ Reeth!) and the current BTC format really does not suit his riding style. Keep ya chin up Dan and im sure you’ll bounce back soon ;) Congrats to Ricky Wiggins (ALBION GAS GAS) for winning the Expert ‘B’ class ! ASHLEY WOOD, Team Steve Plain / GGUK Enduro Rider has just had his best British Championship result to date ! Round 3 of the BEC this weekend was apparently VERY tough with the usual wet conditions and tight checks where most riders lost time on the first day. Judging by the long test times the test was good and long and really did sort the men out from the boys. Ash, riding his Plainer prepped EC250 was 4th E2 (4th overall) on Day 1 and 4th E2 (6th overall) on Day 2. There were only 6 riders to stay on time on the Saturday which made it a ‘true’ old school traditional Enduro ;) This certainly wasn’t a trail ride with the results just decided on 3 laps of a snooker table! What a shame the Rhayader has been cancelled, with both Ashley and Gasser going well, Ash was really looking forward to another good hard event in 3 weeks time.. The rest of the GGUK Teamsters had an ‘eventful’ weekend with Bradley King getting lost and running out of petrol, Luke Meredith getting T-boned in the test wrecking his gasser and Charlie Evans dislocating his shoulder ! Keep pushing Brad and Luke and get well soon Charlie… For full results and report checkout http://www.enduronews.com/events/dyfi.htm |
