HASLAM wins MANX 2 DAY !

Another busy weekend for Team JST GAS GAS this August Bank Holiday….

SAM HASLAM (JSTGG) won the prestigious Manx 2 Day Trial beating his JST GG Team mate Dan Thorpe who finished second ahead of ‘homeboy’ Barry Kinley (Juan Knight GG) in third!

I’m really pleased for Sam but I feel for Thorpey because he thought he’d won. Apparently after Day 1 they made a genuine mistake on Sams result which meant after the Sunday Dan was pretty confident he’d just pipped Sam for the win. After the clerical error was sorted it was Sam who was the victor just beating his more experienced Team mate. Dan was GUTTED as he had a bad five where his bike splutted due to having water in the carb after the very wet conditions.

Nevertheless Dan took the defeat on the chin and is now looking forward his shiny new 2010 bike coming this week!

This was the first time Sam had competed the Manx and I told him that the main thing to do was to enjoy this fantastic event. Always a good event with a full entry which many treat as a sporting holiday on the island.

For Sam to win at his first attempt was impressive because experience plays a big part. I told him to stay focused because they are two very long days and the sections are not particularly hard for the top riders. Also the queuing (because its so popular) can catch u napping!

Sam is proving that he can be a major player in these long National events and can add this mega win to his excellent SSDT results and hopefully next months Lakes 2 Day Trial..

Also congrats to Darren Wasley who won the Clubmen course also on GAS GAS J

Well done to JSTGG Girl Katy Sunter who finished 14th and ACEGG girl Hannah Styles who finished 51st at the first attempt….on a 125….and only 16 !

Sam was helped by Jack Lee (JSTGG) who was also riding and finished a respectable 11th (8th after day 1). Jack is due to fly out to meet up with Dibs tonight in Spain to prepare for the Spanish WTC this coming weekend. Dibs rode another ‘weird’ open-free event in the Pyrenees in France at the weekend and finished 4th. The top 4 riders were all GAS GAS with the win going to Loris Gubian on 4021 points!?, then Adam Raga, then Christophe Bruand, then the Dibster… Again happy with his riding James and his pal Browny (5th) are still ‘baffled’ by the rules at these open free style of French events.

James has now ridden two of these open-free events with Cahors last weekend which are both good training for the next two WTC and TDN where heat and altitude could be a problem..

YMSA youth 3 Day Trial…

No official results yet but I believe GG riders also filled the podium in the B Class with JST rider Tom Dexter winning, Bradley Cox 2nd and Corey Dubik 3rd.

Chris Short (JSTGG) finished on the podium in the A Class in 3rd…
