The last rounds of the 2009 British Youth A+B Classes and the Women and Girls Championship took place in the Isle of Wight at the weekend.

Firstly on Saturday, ACE GAS GAS rider Joanne Coles finished her year off in style with winning the event ‘overall’ beating Becky Cook on her home ground.

Joanne is still in the ‘Girls A Class’ and has won her Class easily this year from her Team mate Hannah Styles (also ACEGG).

Hannah is still only 16 and will improve a lot in the next year as she matures and gets stronger.

The ‘Girls A’ class ride the same route as the ‘Womens’ adult Class so I know Joanne always looks to win the event outright, not just her Class. Anyway she did that in style yesterday and beat Becky by 3 marks…..and still on a 125 !

Joanne also rode the A Class Youth round yesterday and finished 4th J

Emma Bristow, JST GAS GAS finished 3rd in the Womens Class.

On the Sunday it was the last A+B Round and although the two 2009 Champions were decided at the last round (Jack Sheppard and GGUKs George Gosden) there was still plenty to fight for.

In the A Class JST GAS GAS UK Rider Chris Short needed a mega ride to finish the Championship overall in 3rd place. This he achieved yesterday with only just missing out on the win by one mark. Although Shorty was a bit gutted to lose by a ‘dab’ he did enough to finish the year with the #3 bib for next year which is fantastic.

The new 2009 British B Class Champion George Gosden (JSTGG) rode his first A Class Round as a guest and finished a very creditable 6th place.

In the B’s JST GAS GAS Rider Chris Stay lost out on a cruel tight break (furthest clean) to finish second on the day. This however was enough to finish 2nd overall in the B Class Championship for the year, so JSTGG ‘one-two’ in the B’s and both from the Isle of Wight J

JSTGG Rider Tom Dexter finished 3rd on the day and (I think) has finished 4th in the Championship behind George, Chris and Luke Walker.
