Dabill in Portugal .....and more JST news..
James Dabill, No1 Team JST GGUK Rider has just had a mixed weekend in Portugal at Rounds 2 and 3 of the Outdoor WTC. Dibs was a fantastic 5th on Saturday and was reeeeally on the pace with some solid and confident riding. 4th after the first lap on 5 marks, Dibs set off on a roll on the second lap and was still clean until the relatively easy section 8 where his hand ‘strangely’ came of the bars and he did well to recover for a ‘three’, not ideal and he was not impressed but still game on! He cleaned section 9 easy and then onto 10 which he fived (big crash) on the first lap. He was committed to ‘his’ line which he nailed but he simply took too long and was cruelly timed out L. This gave the podium place away and we all knew it. Dibs put his head back on and finished the lap with five easy cleans. VERY pee’d off at the finished but we were all happy with his riding with only Toni looked better. The club was determined not to have Toni ‘clean’ again and changed some sections which we all viewed early in the morning. Then Dibs went for a practice which he needs because he takes along time to get warmed up and stretched out ready for the first lap. The first section he tried snapped the caliper bolt so we had to go back to the paddock to sort the bike. Dibs was sulking because he knows that the morning practice is needed to wake him up. Anyway no big drama, bike easily fixed but practice missed. He started the lap with an easy clean on 1 and a reeeeally soft dab on 2. Mega clean on 3…..onto 4 where the first bit was quite easy (for them). Dibs had a ‘brainfade moment’ and underestimated it and fived….not impressed. Head on and onto 5 where Dibs was mega on Saturday. He got the middle part wrong, recovered well but had no time for the end and was again cruelly timed out J. So we were five sections in and already on 11, not the best. He then settled and was fantastic for the rest of the lap blitzing 6,7,8 and a very mature one dab ride on the hard no.9 which Toni fived twice. We knew that the two fives had ruined the day so it was ‘damage limitation’ for the second lap which went well apart from a couple of slack marks. 7th at the finish which was not the plan after an ‘oh so close podium’ on Saturday. Checkout Trialmag and Trialscentral for the full results and reports. Thanks to Jack(excellent), isma(just cool) and me(ass kicker).
