GG at the SSDT...

What a fantastic week !

The weather makes or breaks the Scottish and we had perfect weather for six days which makes the event a lot more enjoyable for all concerned.

We had a lot of GG bikes in the entry this year and we only had very few issues with bikes so this was very good. The GG Factory showed 100% commitment to support GGUK and the event sending their new Enduro Truck and Team personnel.

We had our faithful GGUK Staff of Factory Kev (Chief spannerman), Andy (Chief spares man), Luke (Kevs chimp) and Al the Spanner who was back onboard with over 85 GG’s to looks after.
So the first BIG THANKYOU goes to the paddock staff which yes I have to pay for but nevertheless are worth every penny for working the 12 hour days. THANX GUYS !

Ok so onto the actual Trial and results…

We did not win which is not what we hoped….or even a damn podium place!

Congratulations to Alexz Wigg and Beta but commiserations to Michael Brown and Sherco who lost the event only due to his bike not starting within the one minute allowance. Cruel but ‘rule are rules’.

Our best JSTGGUK rider was 5th place and went to GARY MacDONALD. He was good all week and only a controversial ‘5’ at ‘The Gorge’ spoilt his week. He enjoyed his first Scottish on the Gasser and was well pleased to be best GAS GAS.

JAMES DABILL, No1 JST GG Rider was 6th, which was simply not good enough. Ok he had bad luck on the Monday losing time due to a tyre off the rim and chain off but everyone has a story and I will not make excuses for his 6th place. He was riding well (I know, I saw his ride every section) and he had a massive chance on Friday when Alexz and Pune were early. Dibs knew he had to go clean but he lost 7 which blew his chances. Dan Thorpe won the Day on 1 and deservedly so.
Respect to Dibs he never gave up going into the last day but losing 3 marks at the first group (still asleep) sealed his fate. A cruel chain off on the last section at the Ben really was bad luck.
So Dibs has hopefully already forgotten SSDT 2010 and will now focus on BTC3 this coming weekend.

ROSS DANBY JSTGG rode with the biggest smile all week, riding very relaxed with Gary Mac and had a fantastic 7th place.

DAN THORPE JSTGG was not on the pace early week but really finished strong especially on Friday with winning the Day. Top 10 is good for Dan nowadays so he’ll be slightly disappointed with 12th but nevertheless still a reliable and fully committed Team member.

JOHN SHIRT Jnr JSTGG was 15th.

SAM HASLAM JSTGG was 16th. He was very late on the Monday (no excuse sorry Sam) which put him waaay down. However he then went on a roll for the next 4 days clawing his way back to the towards the Top10 until a bad day on Saturday putting back to 16th…….just behind a 39 year old office boy.
Sam needed to be with us really for him to enjoy his week but rode on his own which didn’t help. Being early on Day 1 was not ideal and he probably hung around too long. The Monday route is always tight on time so you should learn from experience which Sam now has.

CRAIG ROBINSON JSTGG was 20th which was good but should be better. He started VERY well but made a few mistakes when he came earlier through the week. He enjoyed his week riding with his Bro Liam..

So we did not win but 8 riders in the Top 20 is not too bad JJ

DAN FARRER JSTGG was 47th which was poor and seemed to have waaaay too many fives which soon add up in Scotland.

JACK LEE JSTJOHNLEEGG was 48th and yet again won a Special First Class Award. Jack yet again carried the Team Rucksack and we had a good giggle all week.

EMMA BRISTOW No1 JSTGG Girl rider was 93rd and 2nd best female only 8 marks behind Becky Cook.

KATY SUNTER JSTGG Girl rider was 137th and second class award.

JAMIE DOBB finished !!!!
Jamie is now a Trials Rider and he has my respect for finishing the SSDT.
He did not lose 1 minute on time and rode the event in the perfect way for his first time. Don’t hand about and ‘look and ride’!
Jamie rode this event in memory of his Father ‘John Dobb’ who died 7 months ago from Cancer. John guided his son through his MX career and saw him WIN the 2001 WORLD 125cc MX CHAMNPIONSHIP back in 2001.
Jamie can be a stubborn sod (in a good way) and to win the World Title with TWO broken collar bones proves this. He knew that he would be in pain at the SSDT but his pain was nothing compared to the pain his father suffered during his illness, SO BIG RESPECT DOBBER and pat yourself on ya back..

Please also show your respect to Jamie and his Dad by visiting this link and getting ya money out! http://www.justgiving.com/jamiedobb

So that’s it, SSDT is over and roll on 2011 for the 100th year.

Cheers
Shirty
