Dabill in WTC France and more GG weekend news..
JAMES DABILL No.1 JSTGGUK Team Rider has just finished 7th at the France WTC yesterday. As I arrived Friday late afternoon to the mid 30s temperature in the French mountains I guessed we’d be in for a tough weekend. Dibs was again good in practice on Saturday morning before we viewed the sections in the afternoon. After seeing the first few sections we knew that the sections were very tough and very long for the 1 minute rule. They were very steep in places and there were alot of places where Jack was needed so Jack knew he’d be under pressure on ‘race day’. With only 1 minder allowed (and me in the corridor) it was going to be a tough day for all the Team. Half way around viewing the sections the heavens opened into a massive thunderstorm that lasted all the late afternoon and so the riders viewed the rest of the sections as best they could knowing that the organizers would have to alter most of the crazy sections before Sunday. This they did but they were still very tough and long. Dibs was riding very well and started confidently. He was awesome on the massive step on ‘4’ but then cruelly snapped the tape on the easy end part. This was the bad luck that we could have done without. A good ‘two dab’ ride on the next section 6 got his head back on. He then had a bad run of fives but finished with two easy cleans on the last two sections. The second lap went pretty much the same and the hot conditions were affecting us all. We were all struggling with heat and two punctures didn’t help. Dibs battled on and was awesome on 9, 10 and 13 with some fantastic riding that we all know he is capable of. The problem is these three mega rides were not good enough to achieve better than 7th on the day and we were all disappointed and exhausted at the finish. Still 6th in the Championship, 11 points ahead of Doug with three WTC days remaining… Next Round this coming Sunday in San Marino where he will NOT be 7th again! Thanks to Jack. Thanks for trialmag for pic. Saturday was also the first round of the Women’s WTC and I’m proud to say that we had two British GAS GAS Riders on the Podium! Joanne Coles (ACEGG) was awesome on her PRO125 finishing 2nd and Emma Bristow (JSTGG) rode her heart out on her new RAGA250 to finish on the podium in 3rd. Massive congratulations to you both. Hannah Styles revved her JST 125 Gasser to 13th place and three Championship points for the 17 year old. Dan Thorpe was the best GG rider at the infamous Alan Jefferies National Trial finishing 2nd to Ian Austermule. JSTGG Teamsters Shaun Morris was 6th and Sam Haslam fresh from his Dave Rowland win was 7th. The Trial was low scoring with very close results. Steve Plains GGUK Enduro Team was at the British Enduro Championship at Knighton in mid-Wales and had a good weekend. No.1 Rider Ashley Wood finished 3rd both days in the Championship E2 Class (7TH overall on Saturday and 8th overall on Sunday). Danny McCanney was 2nd overall in the Expert Class on the Saturday and won easily yesterday. Danny would have actually finished 8th overall in the Champ class on Day1 and 4th yesterday, so Danny is continuing to impress… Bradley King was 4th in Champ E3 on Day1 (16th overall) and 4th again on Sunday (17th overall) Thanks again to Steve and Rob Sartin for their help and support.
