GGUK Enduro Rider DAVID KNIGHT was at the infamous Bassella race in Spain at the weekend.
David chose to race in the ‘Enduro Class’ which was hotly contested with a selection of Factory Enduro riders from KTM, Yamaha, Husky etc…
Saturday morning started with a sighting lap ‘trail’ ride around the Sundays course which did not count towards the result. David was one of the first riders back (he did not treat it as a trail ride!) after approx 1.5 hours with a big grin on his face and no fuel issues as had some riders. After a quick lunch we then walked the Saturday afternoon Enduro course for the qualification race which determined grid position for Sunday. This was a short 6 lap race which was part of Sundays lap.
Yamahas French Rider Cristobal Guerrero won this race with David a close second. Briliant to see David and GAS GAS on the podium!
Sunday was the ‘real’ race with 2 laps of a 1.5 hour lap with various mountainous Spanish terrain. Light rain all day made for very slick conditions which David loved. Not knocking Davids fitness but he couldnt quite stay with the younger leaders and I think local knowledge also helped at this race. Nevertheless all credit to the Guerrero brothers. KTM’s Jaume Betriu and GAS GAS Factory rider Antonie Basset.
We actually left thinking David was 5th and I now see was 6th and to be honest im not too sure why…
Nevertheless David was again a crowd favorite and a very popular rider in the paddock.
Many thanks to the GAS GAS FACTORY ENDURO TEAM for supporting David at this race.
